ATTORNEY PROFILES

ANDREW JOHNSTON (B Proc)
Upon leaving Northlands High School, Andrew joined the South African Police where he served in a specialised unit until 1981. He then decided to study Law at Natal University.
After Graduating he commenced articles in 1985 and was admitted as an attorney.
In 1989 he joined a prominent legal firm as a junior partner, his main area of expertise being representation of clients in both criminal and civil proceedings. By the year 1993 he had established a substantial criminal and civil practice and opened his own legal practice conducting business under the name and style of Johnston Easton-Berry.
In 1997 Andrew commenced practice as a sole practioner and then the name changed to Johnston & Partners as it is now known.
Andrew has been involved in a number of high profile cases and continues to represent a number of the major corporates with his main emphasis being on conflict resolution where possible as opposed to protracted litigation.
Resultant from his having practiced for his own account, he has gathered vast experience in various avenues which include:
- Town Planning issues
- Divorce work
- Liquidations
- General legal practice

LEIF LUNDE (B Comm (UND) 1982, LLB (UND) 1984)
Articled at Ditz Incorporated in 1987/88 and admitted as an attorney in 1989.
Practiced at Ditz Inc. For 11 years and then teamed up with Johnston & Partners in 2001.
He heads up the commercial law department which handles negotiation, drafting and execution of all legal documentation.

Leif is also involved in litigation, particularly in the banking, insurance and general commercial fields. Leif also deals with all aspects of intellectual property law and maintains several prominent contacts in this field.

EUNICE MALAN (Upper LLB UNISA, Conveyancer UNISA)
Eunice has worked as a conveyancing paralegal for the past 43 years and was admitted as an attorney and conveyancer in March, 2007. Her conveyancing experience covers a vast field and Eunice excels in the opening of registers in conventional townships and in sectional title schemes.
Town planning issues are one of the fields which Eunice has a great deal of expertise in as well as estate transfers.

Eunice is also founder and lecturer of a private college and has compiled and lectured comprehensive conveyancing courses, including advanced courses, for over twenty years with very commendable results.

Areas of practice and specialisation:
- Township planning
- Conveyancing

CARMEN RONNE
Carmen was admitted as an attorney in 2007 and assisted in a general practice dealing with aspects of civil, commercial and family law. She left the legal fraternity for a short period and was appointed as portfolio manager dealing with sectional title administration.
Carmen joined Johnston & Partners in March 2009 and assists in the litigation department.

ANDREA WARD
Andrea obtained a B Comm degree in 2002 and thereafter completed an LLB degree through University of KwaZulu-Natal, which she completed in 2005. Andrea, handles all aspects of insurance law and assists in the banking and general commercial departments.
She is also experienced in sectional title law, matrimonial law and evictions.

KATE CLAYTON
Kate Clayton is the firm’s public relations practitioner.
She has experience in Human Resources and Marketing.
She obtained her National Diploma in Human Resources and industrial relations at varsity college in 2005.
